Just over six years ago, Shara Hubert met VP2H founder Shane Schmutz through her network of business connections. Being involved with the initial Denver gala and continuing to connect additional people to VP2H, she has stayed connected to the group all the way up to joining the board over 2 years ago.
Today, Shara serves on the VP2H Board of Directors as the Marketing Chair. The past few years have been a truly rewarding experience for her, opening and expanding her interest and her heart for veterans’ causes. Shara says, “to hear the stories of how VP2H impacts veterans’ groups is just phenomenal and we know we’re really making a difference.”
Making an impact as part of the VP2H board has been rewarding and also fun for Shara. She enjoys seeing it all come together. She adds, “All you have to do is go to one check presentation and see how much each grant recipient is impacted and you’ll want to be part of this.”
As Marketing Chair, Shara coordinates a team creating content, including social media, public relations, and graphics, that brings awareness to the issues facing veterans today. Her goal from a marketing perspective is to constantly increase that awareness, which is one of the three pillars of VP2H’s mission.
Her VP2H role fits in well with her position as VP of Sales and Marketing for Plumb Marketing. Degreed in marketing, she says she absolutely loves what she does, especially when she is able to help teams grow. Shara is “passionate about entrepreneurship” and is an entrepreneur herself, operating two companies, Visdom and Colorado Golf Trails, with her business partner.
Shara’s interest in and heart for the military now expands to her own family. She is now the proud mom of a new Marine as her son is graduating from boot camp. Within this new journey she is finding that she has a whole new perspective on military life. Her family also includes an active young daughter and a number of immediate and extended family members in the Denver area.
Looking forward to VP2H’s future, Shara says “we are in a really cool time where we can expand our reach and make an even bigger difference.” She adds that “from a marketing perspective, we will look at how we connect to the maximum amount of people so they are aware that there is this place to find the resources they need” and she is excited to see what the next few years bring for VP2H.
